I would like to share a 'kind of lie' with you.

Delayed May MoaD - Reason numero dos

In part II of the "why is the May MoaD song delayed?" mystery, we find that it revolves around a particular event. You see, MoaD is going on the RoaD. Sort of. Well, that's just a kind of lie. But, for real, MoaD is playing live at a show called Breaking Spring, a new band showcase at the Lincoln Theater in Decatur, IL. The show starts at 7pm, doors at 6:30pm. The show is being put on by the fabulous Lay It Down Studios (hit 'em up at layitdownstudios@aol.com). http://bit.ly/cAMiDn Join us at the debut MoaD outing! Great tunes, great eats, cool theater... that sounds like a Saturday night to me. AND, of course, we'll be releasing our new jam, called 'kind of lie'. (Yes, I used the word jam. We are going after an 80's sound, you know. And this, of all MoaD tunes to date, is the most 80's-enest sound we've jammed.)

Delayed May MoaD - Reason numero uno

So we promised an update with the reasons we've chosen to add a '1' in front of the anticipated drop day of the new song (5/15 instead of 5/5). Here's the dealy... I, Lp, was given the opportunity to test drive several drugs for battling acute sinusitis. All I had to do was get down with the sickness, which I did so well that I was... DOWN with the sickness for about one whole week! This, as you may imagine, was a 7-day speed bump for the band. Though the material was in place and ready to be produced, I could not get to it. However, there is a really good reason, the other reason, why we chose 5/15 as the postponed release date. That reason shall be explained in the next post. Until then...

'kind of lie'

Hey all you out there... MoaD is due to release a new song. That song is forthcoming (actually it's fifth coming). And it drops on 5/5!!! Note: the track title is 'kind of lie,' and I just told you a kind of lie. In keeping with our 1/1, 2/2, 3/3 theme, the track *should* drop on 5/5. However, for two reasons, MoaD's May music will be officially released on 5/15, so throw an extra digit in there, will ya? Stay tuned for more deets (and for those two reasons from my explanation).

The 'quick win' Listening Party

--- THIS PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT IS NOT AN APRIL FOOL'S PRANK --- We're hosting a real, live event, The 'quick win' Listening Party. Thursday, 4/1/2010 from 6:30-8:30pm at CJ's Cafe' in downtown Pekin (404 Courst Street). Cost of entry is $3 per person, $5 per couple, $8 per family. EVERY $3 entry will receive a cd with all MoaD music to date. Coffee, tea and soda pop will be available for sale through the normal CJ's methods. Pass it on.

Recipe for 'the quick win'

100 dB rock, 2 cups post-punk vibe, 1 freakin' slammin' middle 8 section, 2 verses potent lyrics, handful of sassy vocal delivery, pinch of synth pop, Mix well. Play for 2:40 often. Serves everyone. This is the recipe for the next Middle of a Dream (MoaD) tune, dropping 4/4 at a (home) theater near you.

The next drop is 4/4

In keeping with the release MoaD (1/1, 2/2, 3/3), the next track will drop 4/4. And, yes, 4/4 is Easter Sunday. That so, we won't be hosting the usual launch party for this release. We MoaDers will be hanging with family and enjoying the holiday that is Easter. We hope you'll do the same. The track will be available at 4:04pm. MoaD will send out the typical link to get you to the song online. Stay tuned.

The image is 'right there'

DreaMers, I wanted to take a few to discuss the 'right there' image. To begin, MoaD have decided that we will launch one song every month. I'll discuss this in greater detail in another post. Along with our decision to post up a track each month, we've decided to treat each track like a single, complete with artwork that visually accompanies the song. The band is steeped in the fine arts for a variety of reasons. That so, we have determined to pursue artists to create said images or illustrations. Each piece, then, can stand on it's own merit as a work of art. AND, we have plans for the MoaD art. Again, this is a topic for another post.

'right there' Virtual Listening Party

So, we are about to launch 'right there.' To do so, we wanted to create a virtual listening party through a live chat room. As some of you know, we tried Tinychat last month, and... it appears Tinychat needs to grow up a bit. We looked around for a bit to find another chat sich that would not require a download or a sign-up. Unfortunately, that's difficult to find. Meebo (http://meebo.com) is browser based, so you don't have to D/L anything. However, you do need to sign up. Thankfully it's free. So if you're willing, head on over to Meebo and create an account if you don't already have one. For you iPhone users, Meebo has a great iPhone app (though I'm not certain it works for live chat rooms). Once you sign up, add MoaD as a buddy. Our username is middle_of_a_dream. The listening party is official at 9:03pm CST. We will fire up a chat room around 8:45pm or so and invite anyone in our buddy list. We sure hope you can join us.

March MoaDness

Let the March MoaDness begin... on 3/3. MoaD will launch track #3 on 3/3 (that's March 3) at 9:03pm. The song 'right there' will be uploaded to bandcamp.com for your listening and downloading pleasure. As with our previous launches, the track will be free to download from the time of it's launch until the launch of the following MoaD song on 4/4. When 'right there' is ret ta go, we will provide the necessary links, as usual, to get you "right there," to the virtual destination. When we launched 'crasht' (http://moad.bandcamp.com/track/crasht) on 2/2, we experimented with a live chat via TinyChat. The feedback about TinyChat was, shall we say, less than stellar. It was having a difficult time keeping up with the traffic. For that, we apologize. It was, as I mentioned, an experiment.

We (MoaD) will be 'right there'

Hear ye, hear ye... MoaD is gearing up to release song #3, 'right there.' Here's a sneak peak at the lyrics for the chorus: "Can you hear a word I say when I'm right there beside you? Can you see I'm not OK, when I'm right there beside you?" In January we were digging on a power pop induced riff with 'breaking you.' The follow-up in February, 'crasht,' was a chilled tempo alternative that culminated with an in-your-face guitar blast. So what's in the cards for song #3, you ask? For the following reasons, 'right there' has become a favorite in the band. First, the tempo is 'right there.' It has the power pop thing going on, a la that 80's pop vibe we've been leaning toward (because, musically speaking, 80's pop is our baby's milk). It has groove... it has meaning. Simply put, we think you'll be dancing, or head bobbing, or singing along, or all of these in the first spin of 'right there.' It's certainly the case for us.

Bandcamp, email DB's and YOU

Soooo, LISten, I was wondering... MoaD has chosen bandcamp.com as the primary site for online distribution of our music. Here's the deal, at this point bandcamp.com is free for artists. I dunno, but this may change. It's a fantastic site, we like it a lot. It gives us the opportunity to decide whether to charge or not, whether to set a fixed price or variable, etc. So, you know, MoaD is a new project, right? And being new and all, we need to make connections. On bandcamp's site, we can choose whether or not to require an email address. Since we want to build an email database, we want your email addresses. For the time being, your only cost to D/L our new music is the low, low price of your email info. Please know that bandcamp does not track your email address. It's for our (MoaD's) eyes only. And we will guard your info like... like... well, it's safe with us. Promise. D/L 'crasht,' today. You want you to. Lp

We are in charity MoaD

Hey, dreamers, we'd like to introduce a local charity which MoaD supports. The organization is Tazewell County Resource Center. You can learn more about this awesome org here: http://tcrcorg.com. Here's the deal. If you go to http://moad.bandcamp.com/album/breaking-you-bundle, you can download the 'breaking you' bundle for a minimum donation of $3, and the max is up to you. The proceeds of the sale of this bundle will go directly to TCRC. Please, consider D/L'ing this tune to support your local rawk band, which is, in turn, will support an excellent local charity. You in? Lp

'crasht' Landing is on, in 5, 4, 3, 2...

We've got some fun stuff planned for the virtual listening party. It all happens at 7pm Central time on 2/2. For starters, we've created a chat room so we can all be (virtually) together for a while. It's an eKumbaya, if you will. What with H1N1 rampant and what not, this is the safest listening party you'll "attend" all day. More on that chat room in a later post. We'll get you all set up. For seconders, there are a few fun surprises / giveaways for participants. We're excited to launch 'crasht,' and we hope you'll e-crash with us. Lp
